In a special night honouring the “life and legacy” of a late nature-loving icon, guests at the annual Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas received a royal welcome as they settled into proceedings.

Along with the family of wildlife warriors, Prince William shared his support for global conservation and the Irwins’ collective efforts.

The royal welcomed guests virtually to the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, encouraging the perpetuation of Steve’s unwavering fight to protect Earth’s creatures and natural resources.

“Tonight is all about conservation and continuing Steve’s global mission to protect life on our planet,” William said.

“His dream was to have the cleanest water, the freshest air and wildlife in abundance.

“But most of all, he wanted a future for our children, advocating for the preservation of our planet.”

A cause close to the prince’s heart and values, William launched the Earth Shot Prize to encourage innovative solutions to “protect and restore our planet”.

Taking place annually in Las Vegas and Brisbane, the event raises funds to continue the work Steve set out to achieve all those years ago.

Robert, the youngest and arguably the least camera shy of the nature preservers, shared happy snaps from the occasion accompanied by loved ones.

His mother Terri and sister Bindi proudly posed for photos as they aimed to perpetuate their beloved family member’s legacy.

Fans of the family offered their overwhelming support online in response to the images.

“Hard not to notice Roberts the spitting image of Steve,” one person wrote.

Another said: “You can see the pride in Terri’s eyes that she has for her children.”

Fresh off his first season as host of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Robert was joined by cast member and actor Frankie Muniz and his family on the khaki carpet.

Following formal proceedings, the youngest Irwin joined Aussie performers Lee and Robby Kernaghan on stage to bust out a tune.

While the night’s focus was dedicated to his late father, Robert shared an image of his mother Terri to express their mutual love on a day when many other mums would’ve drawn more attention.

He captioned the image: “Happy Mother’s Day.”

The Steve Irwin Gala will return to Brisbane in November.
