English tourist James Marsland suffered an unfortunate scooter accident in Bali which resulted in head-to-toe injuries.

Balinese tourists had another reason to look twice crossing the street last week when British holidaymaker James Marsland strolled through Canggu bandaged head-to-toe like an Egyptian Mummy.

The young Yorkshire traveller, dubbed “Mummy Man” online, was seen far worse for wear in a viral Instagram video following what has been confirmed as an all too common island error — a scooter accident.

He revealed to PerthNow the extent of his injuries.

“Just had a sh** ton of road rash, bust up lip, needed stitches and a chipped tooth,” Mr Marsland said.

With scooter-related accidents rife among Aussie tourists, the seasoned traveller had a message for those planning to hop on the popular mode of transport as they traversed the island.

“Wear a helmet and drive safely,” he said.

After days of speculation, Francesco Angeloni — an Italian business owner who recorded the video and subsequently reached out to Mr Marsland — posted a follow-up clip to the platform featuring the banged-up tourist to dispel myths surrounding his identity and injuries.

“The Mummy Returns,” he captioned the post.

“The real story of @_jamesmarsland, driving on sunset road the phone fell from the holder and trying instinctively to catch it lost control of the bike ending up on the asphalt for the famous Balikiss.”“James is a BULE BAIK: not drinking, wearing helmet, not speeding... just a casualty that could have gone worse. Luckily he is still in 1 piece.“After pizza and pasta the English man is on the way to England, coming back to Bali in August most probably. We all wish him a super speed recovery, and this video is to remind people how dangerous can be driving a motorbike anywhere in the world so be very very careful.”

Mr Angeloni stood alongside the injured traveller and gave a further explanation of his injuries, reiterating his new friend was sober and “not doing stupid stuff”.

Viewers concerned for the Englishman’s supposed good looks were put at ease, as Mr Angeloni joked Mr Marsland is “totally fine, like many girls say, he’s very good looking.

“He’s still hot.”

Following speculation the injured tourist was from Down Under, Mr Angeloni felt compelled to clear the air.

“He’s not Australian,” he said.

To which Mr Marsland proudly replied, “I’m British, from Yorkshire.”

Responses to the jarring footage range from comical to concerned, as the clip continues to be spread far and wide online.

“That’s more than a kiss that’s at least 2nd base,” one person responded.

“Isn’t it Bad Karma to laugh at & make fun out of someone’s accident/ pain?” commented a worried viewer.

After sharing a meal with the business owner at his Balinese restaurant Amici, it was revealed Mr Marsland had plans to conclude his travels.

The intrepid tourist had shared images jaunting through Thailand and the Maldives earlier this year, though will continue his road to recovery in England away from the chaotic streets of Bali.
