Speaking publicly for the first time since the young man’s remains were discovered, his parents Travis and Kristie Bishop said they can’t sleep at night without being haunted by images of how their son died.
Through tears, Travis described his son as the kind of person who always put others before himself.
“For this to happen to him, it makes no sense,” he said.
“He was such a beautiful kid.
“(He had) his whole future ahead of him, never had a cruel bone in his body. Now that he’s been taken away from us, that hole cannot be filled.”
Travis said the family would never get closure from the loss of “our baby boy”.
“We’re in Australia, this is the lucky country and we’ve had our son taken from us. It’s not fair.
“Everyone out there, don’t take it for granted, your children, just hold them now, hold them tight, because you never know when it’s the last time you get to hold them.”

Kristie thanked family, friends and the wider community for their support, calling them “angels”.
She also thanked police.
Bishop’s phone pinged at the park the day he was last seen and had previously been searched by police at least twice.
Watts faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
A charge sheet alleges he murdered Bishop between May 27 and 28, shortly after he went missing.
Watts did not apply for bail and is expected to next face court on September 22.
