A woman has died in hospital following a disturbance at a home on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Police were initially called to a home on Gannawarra St, Currimundi around at 4.40pm on December 22.

A 47-year-old woman was found at the address with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.

She died in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman’s exact cause of death is yet to be determined as a post mortem has not been completed.

A 58-year-old man was initially taken into custody at the scene, and has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and obstruct police.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on January 6.

“Investigations into the circumstances of the woman’s death are underway,” police said.
