South Australian man charged with dangerous driving after collision in Smithfield

A South Australian man is accused of running a red light and colliding with another vehicle while driving over the limit.

The 36-year-old man from Gawler West was travelling south in a Ram ute when he allegedly went through the red light at the intersection of Main North Rd and Uley Rd, Smithfield and T-boned another driver in a Yaris travelling east just before midnight on Tuesday.

The driver of the Yaris, a 28-year-old Parafield Gardens man, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ram driver allegedly returned a positive breath test result of 0.063 and was arrested at the scene.

He has since been charged with causing serious harm by dangerous driving and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on February 26.
