Desperate search ends in tragedy as missing toddler found dead in dam near Geelong

Alarms raised for a missing child ended in awful circumstances as the toddler was found dead in a dam near Geelong.

The young boy went missing from his home in Lara in Victoria and was found unconscious in the dam yesterday evening.

Reports the child was missing were sounded to police around 5.20pm on Tuesday and a desperate search was launched immediately.

The area was searched by the air wing and police, who then located the toddler in the dam off Windermere Rd.

Police performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but the boy could not be revived and died at the scene.
