A man who suffered critical injuries in a two-car crash on a major Perth highway last month has died in hospital, police have confirmed.

The 94-year-old was behind the wheel of a green Holden Commodore sedan that collided with a grey MG4 electric hatch about 3pm on Friday, September 27.

It happened as both cars were being driven south on Great Eastern Hwy in Ascot.

The 94-year-old man was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.

“Tragically, he has since died as a result of those injuries,” WA Police said on Thursday.

The incident is now being looked into by the Major Crash team and anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.

WA’s road toll currently stands at 139 deaths in 2024, an eight-year high for this time of year.
