A 34-year-old male day care worker has been charged with sexually touching a child.

The NSW child abuse squad began investigating in September after receiving a report that a young child had been sexually abused at a Sydney day care centre.

Detectives from the state crime command’s child abuse squad arrested a 34-year-old man at a warehouse in Kemps Creek at 12.45pm on Thursday.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 and common assault.

Police have not revealed the day care centre where the alleged crimes took place.

It is understood that the NSW Department of Education is currently contacting families that have sent children to the day care centre.

The man has been refused bail and will face Penrith Local Court today.

NSW Department of Education has been approached for comment.
