Travis Kelce: ‘Gym teacher’ slammed for controversial t-shirt that sent fans into a stir

Travis Kelce has come under fire for proudly displaying his support for a teammate who is a convicted felon.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, otherwise known as Taylor Swift’s fiancee, made headlines for his fashion statement while warming up for his side’s week two match.
Gearing up to play in a Superbowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs were looking to pick up their first win of the season, but ended up being losers on field and causing a major stir off it.

Now Kelce is back in the spotlight for wearing t-shirts, along with other Chiefs, supporting their teammate Rashee Rice, who is serving a six-game suspension to start the season.
The shirts had Rice plastered all over with the statement ‘FREE 4’ in reference to the suspended receiver’s jersey number, implying that he was hard done by.

This caused a stir online, with Rice being side-lined by the league for an incident in 2024 when he was drag racing in a Lamborghini on the highway at 190/kph. The race ended in a six car crash that sent multiple people to hospital.
Rice pleaded guilty in July to a third-degree felony count involving serious bodily injury and third-degree count of causing bodily injury.
The 25-year-old was sentenced to five-years probation and 30 days of jail time, while being ordered to may more then $170,000 to the victims for medical expenses.
The wideout then settled a lawsuit filed by two victims, agreeing to pay $1.5m plus legal expenses. He is still facing a lawsuit from a different victim.
After seeing the Chiefs wearing the t-shirts showing, the attorney for one of the crash victims slammed the players, referencing Kelce’s engagement announcement.
“I respect that Kelce and (Tyquan) Thornton support their teammate, but the ‘gym teacher’ needs to talk with the history teacher,” Marc Lenahan told TMZ Sports.
“Rashee isn’t Nelson Mandela or Pepe Mujica, men who fought for what they believed in.”

The attorney then went on to further rip into Kelce for supporting Rice.
“There is evidence that Rashee was going 119 mph in a $1,749 per day Lambo rental that had pot and a pistol in it, on a highway on Easter weekend,” Lenahan told TMZ Sports
“Free Rashee? He already thinks he’s getting away scot-free.
“He’s not paid a single cent of the $1.1 million judgement he already owes our client, who is living anything but pain-free.”
Fans online similarly took issue with the teams choice of supporting Rice and voiced their opinions on social media.
“Free him from what? Consequences? Caused a 6 car pile up with multiple injuries, fled the scene, and got lucky nobody died,” one person said on X.
“Shame on Kelce,” another wrote.
