Built in 2010, the property was previously owned by billionaire Larry Kestelman, chairman of the Melbourne Tigers basketball team and co-founder of internet provider, Dodo.

The illustrious blue-chip location in Brighton has some of Melbourne’s most expensive real estate.

The likes of Eddie McGuire, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting and Chris Judd have all called the area home over the years.

“It is on one of the best streets in Brighton and it is undoubtedly one of the trophies on the Golden Mile,” Mr Fletcher said.

“We have had strong levels of enquiry.

“We were involved in selling two of the other larger homes in that pocket in Brighton in the past 12 months, one being Ricky Ponting’s home Shandford and 12 Dudley Street, which sold for north of $20 million.

“So we are used to what levels of enquiry are good and the level of enquiry for this property is pretty exceptional.”

The median house price in Brighton is $3.49 million, according to CoreLogic.

It was built to an extraordinary level of detail,

The record price paid for a house in the suburb was set in 2022 following the sale of late 7-Eleven co-owner Beverley Barlow’s mansion which fetched $31.6 million.

Taking design inspiration from Parisian-style architecture, the house boasts luxury finishes and features of epic proportions.

It includes a 200-bottle wine cellar, 12-seat theatre, a gym and six-car garage, a bar and a swimming pool and spa.

The listing described the house as a “remarkable residence” that has “captured and celebrated all the requirements of modern upscale family life, with chic and inviting interiors and glorious resort style surrounds”.

“It was built to an extraordinary level of detail, from the levels of travertine and American walnut and brass detailing, it was an incredibly expensive property to put together,” the agent said.

“The replacement value now probably isn’t palatable.”

The sense of grandeur is established at the entrance of the home which is lined with imported travertine.

The entryway features a statement curved staircase, grand columns and soaring glass windows and doors.

The opulent living, dining and entertaining spaces are fitted with chandeliers, columns and enormous doors that open out to the resort-style outdoor areas.

Towering columns frame the building outside which has terraces, fireside alfresco dining and a heated swimming pool and spa.

There are five well-appointed bedrooms and seven bathrooms, including two north-facing bedroom suites extending to individual balconies and guest accommodation at ground level.

The master suite is designed to impress, with oversized walk-in robes and a luxurious marble bathroom.

A round bath tub is at the centrepiece of the bathroom with a chandelier hung above and sheer curtains framing the bath.

The home office has an extensive library custom built from Walnut timber joinery, a reading area and a suspended spherical open wood fireplace with a travertine seating ledge.

Downstairs in the basement is the 12-seater home theatre, the entertainer’s bar and cellar all lined in American Walnut.

There is also a full gymnasium, and the six-car garage includes a car showroom glass wall.

The property is open for inspection on May 18 from 2pm to 3pm.
