While it’s common courtesy not to wear white to a wedding, it isn’t normally a rule when attending a baby shower.

However, one woman has sparked a feud amongst her friends after wearing white to a baby shower.

The very confused woman shared the details of the situation in a Reddit post.

She explained that she had been friends with ‘Claire’ since high school and was part of a small friendship group that had stayed close over the years.

Her friend Claire is pregnant and hosted a baby shower and invited their friendship group, including the woman.

The issue started when the woman wore a “white and blue floral sundress” to the event.

“I didn’t think anything of it, because as far as I know, white is only inappropriate for bridal events,” explained the woman.

When she arrived at the baby shower, Claire’s mood “seemed to immediately sour”, and she was “really cold toward” her friend.

Later on, another friend, pulled the woman aside and asked her to leave and said that Claire was “offended by her attention-seeking behaviour.”

She said that it was “inappropriate to wear white to Claire’s event”.

The woman left feeling super confused.

“I thought the ‘white rule,’ only applied to bridal events. Our friends are refusing to take sides, but a couple have told me I should apologise even if I don’t think I am wrong,” said the woman.

“Am I the a**hole? she asked Reddit.

Her post garnered more than 2,000 comments and people were quick to side with the woman.

“Not the a**hole. Please wear the same outfit next time you see her,” said one.

“Does Claire own the colour white? Not the a**hole,” said a second.

“I just hope you took your present with you when you left, Claire is insane,” said a third.

“These girls are not your friends. This is super weird, not the a**hole,” added another.

Others questioned whether it wasn’t the colour of the dress but something else that may have dismayed Claire.

The woman responded to the comments and said perhaps it was “her own weight” that was the issue.

“I’ve always been the ‘bigger’ girl in our group (I’m not actually overweight or anything but everyone else is very tall and slender and I’m short with wide hips). So, maybe she’s feeling bad that she’s bigger than I am right now? But she SHOULD be bigger because she’s eight months pregnant! And she looks fantastic!”
