A footy WAG revealed her stunning wedding day was the first time she had felt “truly beautiful”, until her joy came to an abrupt halt after internet trolls began body-shaming her.

Chloe married her childhood sweetheart and North Melbourne player Toby Pink in a private ceremony in early March before the news was made public.

In a radio interview with Will and Woody on KIIS FM, the 25-year-old shared she had cried for days after receiving vile comments about her appearance.

“My wedding day was the first day where I’ve felt truly beautiful,” Chloe said.

“Even when I uploaded the photos, I didn’t question if I looked fat, I didn’t question if I looked ugly, I didn’t question my appearance.”

The comment section on an article by the Herald Sun was particularly awful.

“AFL player by day, pig hunter by night,” wrote one Facebook user.

“Did he marry an NRL prop forward?” commented another.

Chloe said her loved ones have been devastated for her with her mum “crying all week”.

The Melbourne newlyweds have discussed what they feel needs to change.

“Toby’s first point was we need to teach our children better,” Chloe said.

“We need to educate our sons and daughters that we need to stop talking about people’s bodies. Talk about what their bodies can do, not what they look like.”

The pair also noticed a large number of comments were coming from older generations of men who are generally excused because of their upbringing.

“Unfortunately, it was older men,” she said.

“It sucks. It’s an uncomfortable conversation.”

Chloe said her husband believes the solution is ultimately “up to us men to call it out”, while openly admitting himself that he needs to “do better”.

“These women are sticking up for me, but it’s not women making the comments,” she added.

Chloe has since personally thanked the show of support from women around Australia.

Other AFL WAGs have similarly been speaking out against trolls and the beauty standards they are expected to conform to.

Paris Tier, the partner of Greater Western Sydney defender Conor Stone, has been vocal on social media about her struggles with body issues because of immense pressure from the public.

At one stage, the young woman had even attempted to ask her GP for viral weight-loss Ozempic after being body-shamed online.

Ms Tier has been teasing a podcast about her experiences dating a footy player to be released on Wednesday.
