GWS Giants players face AFL suspension and fine over Wacky Wednesday involving Raygun dress up and Diddy joke
More details of the GWS end-of-season club function, that has landed several players in hot water, have emerged with one player allegedly making a offensive remark over the P. Diddy sexual assault allegations, while another came dressed as infamous Australian break-dancer Raygun.
The AFL is considering suspending as many as half a dozen players, and fining others $20,000, after a bartender at a hotel in Sydney complained about the behaviour, which included skits, at the “Wacky Wednesday” event on September 18 - days after the Giants’ crushing sudden death finals loss to the Lions.
GWS investigated the complaint, as did the AFL, with the players told on Tuesday they had 48 hours to respond to the allegations.

“The Giants are aware of an anonymous allegation of inappropriate behaviour at the players’ end-of-season event last month,” GWS said in statement said.
“The club and its integrity unit have been working with the AFL’s integrity unit to investigate. The club will make no further comment until the outcomes of the investigation have been finalised.”
The AFL said it hoped to have the matter resolved soon.
“The AFL and the GWS Giants have been undertaking an investigation into the Giants players’ post-season event which is in its final stages,” it said..
“An update will be provided by the AFL once the investigation has concluded.”
The player’s union was at pains not to get comment until the investigation was concluded.
On Tuesday night, 7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary revealed the exclusive details of the probe and the bans in relation to what was being described as “highly inappropriate” behaviour.
“It’s understood the dress-ups theme was celebrity couples ... with activities related to that,” Cleary said.
Cleary said the function was held in private but the AFL and the club had become aware of some disturbing activities after an anonymous tip-off.
“It’s understood the club’s own internal probe discovered no illegal activity,” Cleary said.
The Giants became aware of the situation after the anonymous allegation last month.
“(But) the Giants are set to be without multiple players to start next season,” Cleary said.
