West Coast tyro Harley Reid has paid tribute to midfield mentor Elliot Yeo and the impact the veteran has had on the teen sensation’s debut season.

Yeo’s return to fitness and a full-time on-ball role has been a significant boost for West Coast during a difficult campaign.

But ahead of their final match of the season, Reid has opened up Yeo’s influence on him as a rapidly emerging midfielder.

“Obviously for me as an individual, he has helped me very closely, on and off the field,” he said on Coast to Coast, the club’s podcast.

“He is just like a bigger brother who is pretty scary. I listen to everything he says because he is a pretty scary man when he gets yapping.

“He has got great sense of humour about him, he is funny.

Reid has a show-stopping reel of highlights this season, but he says the club’s first win of his debut year was his favourite moment.

Reid said back-to-back wins against Richmond and Fremantle in April were his high points.

The 19-year-old kicked his first goal in front of a home crowd in the victory over Richmond and then lit up Optus Stadium in their shock western derby victory in round six.

“I would probably have to say first win, at Optus, was pretty sick to be a part of — the Richmond game,” he told club podcast Coast to Coast.

“I think those two weekends in a row there, we had (Fremantle) again at home the weekend after.
