Construction CEO and former Melbourne Storm player Tye Alroe tragically dies aged 39
Gold Coast construction CEO and former Melbourne Storm player Tye Alroe has tragically died of a heart attack aged 39.
The accomplished builder, who spent time at the Storm in 2002 but never played a first-grade game, went into cardiac arrest at a gym in Burleigh Heads on Tuesday afternoon.
Paramedics rushed to the scene but sadly could not save Alroe after his collapse.

The much-loved family man started his own carpentry business after his brief rugby league career, before later founding development company Alroe Construction in 2012.
“My first job in construction taught me the importance of hard work, resilience and immersing myself in every aspect of the construction process,” he told Ocean Road Magazine earlier this year.
“I learned quite quickly the significance of having a strong work ethic.
“2012 was an extremely exciting year, I built my first house and really started to get involved with the property development process.
“I am really grateful for where I am today. Alroe has grown into a strong, trusted company, and I’m really proud of the work we’re doing.”
Industry figure and Alroe’s close friend Steve Hunt led tributes for him.
“Tye was an exceptional businessman, and an even better bloke,” Hunt said.
“He was one of the rising stars of the Gold Coast development industry and was very well respected by all within the industry, including builders, tradespeople and contractors.”
“The industry is devastated by the untimely passing of such an industry go-getter.”
Rob Bailey added: “All our thoughts and love go to his family and our condolences.
“Please everyone, if you’re feeling a bit off, get to the doctor and make sure everything is okay.”
Alroe grew up in Queensland but moved to Melbourne to chase his NRL dream at 19.
Included in his company’s portfolio of work was Mermaid Beach’s The Finn on Albatross Ave, Habitat in Tugun and Sera at Main Beach.
