The 37-year-old’s life has changed dramatically since her performance divided the world, with the academic spotted partying with popstar Boy George and rubbing shoulders with Sir Richard Branson on one of his Mediterranean cruises.

Although she has returned to work at Macquarie University’s Department of Media, Communications and Creative Arts, many expect her life will never be the same again ... and there are predictions she will cash in big time from her new-found fame.

In her latest interview, Raygun also had a strong message for her haters.

“You did not bring me down,” she said.

“You did not succeed.

“I will stand by what I did.”

After the Olympics and the flood of controversy that followed, Raygun said she didn’t realise that her performance would “open the door to so much hate”.

She said it had been “pretty devastating”.

But she believes it would have been different if she was a man and says Paris was “the best and worst for gender equality”.

“I think if I was a man, I would have very quickly been given the larrikin title and people would have rallied behind me a lot more,” she told Stellar magazine.

“We had gender equity, which is huge. Absolutely huge. The Australian female Olympians did amazing in the medal tally, women’s sport reached new heights.

“But at the same time, you know, we need to police that there were awful reactions to the Algerian boxer Imane Khelif (the female gold medallist who was drawn into a gender row) and awful reactions to me.

“So it’s like two steps forward, one-and-a-half steps back.”

Raygun has, however, built up a lot supporters and a strong cult following.

In Melbourne, a life-sized sculpture of Raygun recently popped up in the inner-north suburb of Northcote.

And there have been other tributes made to her all around the world.

On the cruise with Branson, she led large group dancing sessions while the billionaire was seen photobombing her and her husband.

Branson dined with Raygun on multiple occasions — once with Channel 7’s Sonia Kruger sitting to his right.

He also bowed down to the breakdancer and kissed her hand.

“What a time what a vibe 🌊,” Raygun wrote on social media after the cruise.

Branson also posted a compilation video of Raygun’s time on the cruise and wrote: “‘Breaking’ news with Raygun! Hats off to Raygun for being so bold and making people smile,” he wrote.

“Invited her and husband Sam on board and we had a blast.

“Proud to have them as new friends, she can go home with her head held high.”
