Leading cruise ship line bans 24 people after violent brawl

Carnival Cruise Lines has banned 24 people from sailing after a massive brawl broke out as passengers disembarked in Texas after a seven-day trip.

Footage of the fight was posted to social media on April 26, showing a large group of people throwing punches and knocking over signs and safety barriers as shocked onlookers watched helplessly.

At one point, a man is pushed to the ground and set upon by multiple people who are seen kicking and punching him.

Carnival Cruise Lines released a statement about the incident, saying the company does not allow such behaviour on its ships.

“The incident occurred in the debarkation area under the authority of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol,” A Carnival spokesperson said.

“The matter was turned over to law enforcement. We will not tolerate such behavior, and 24 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail list.”

Following the incident, border patrol officials confirmed to local media outlets that ten people were detained however only one person was arrested.

A 21-year-old Chicago man is now facing five felony charges for injury to a child, elderly individual or disabled individual.

In his affidavit, the suspect claimed the issue between the two groups started the day before during a basketball game onboard the ship.
