US pop star Taylor Swift says she is “completely in shock” over the Southport knife attack on children, which left two dead and others critically injured.

Two children were killed, nine others were injured — six critically — and two adults were also fighting for their lives after being stabbed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, a seaside town in Merseyside, England on Tuesday.

In a post on Instagram, Swift said she was in complete shock over the loss of young lives.

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock...The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders,” she wrote.

“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

A 17-year-old male was arrested for the attack on Tuesday night.

The hooded knife-man arrived by taxi as parents were picking up their children from a children’s event just before midday.

Moments later, people spilled out onto the quiet street “screaming” and “in tears”.

Armed police officers swooped on the venue, called Hart Space, after the stabbing spree.

Merseyside Police chief constable Serena Kennedy said the injured adults “were bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked”.
