Darwin teen girl charged after allegedly stabbing police officer at shopping centre
A police chief has issued the warning ‘don't touch our cops’ after an officer was allegedly stabbed by a 14-year-old girl in a shopping centre.
A 14-year-old girl has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly stabbing a police officer in the arm and chest as he was responding to a disturbance at a shopping centre.
Just before 4.30pm on Tuesday, police received reports a girl had assaulted a security guard and caused damage at the centre on Smith Street in central Darwin.
CCTV operators tracked the girl who was found nearby with two other teens.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.When officers approached, she allegedly produced a kitchen knife and struck an officer, causing injuries to his upper arm and chest.
A Taser was deployed and the girl was arrested, police said.
She has been charged with intending to cause serious harm, causing harm, possessing, carrying or using a controlled weapon, assaulting, resisting and hindering police, and assaulting a worker causing harm.
A 13-year-old girl has also been charged with assaulting a worker causing harm, making threats, going armed in public, and possessing, carrying or using a controlled weapon.
The injured officer has been discharged from hospital but has since returned for surgery.
NT Police Commissioner Martin Dole said officers went to work to protect Territorians and deserved to return home safely.
“Assaulting an officer shows a complete disregard for their safety and for the people who serve our community,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Violence towards police, security guards or anyone else will not be tolerated.
“Don’t touch our cops.”
