14-year-old girl allegedly stabs police officer in chest and arm at Darwin shopping centre
A police chief has called the stabbing of an officer - allegedly by a 14-year-old girl - unacceptable when the officer was working to protect the community.
A 14-year-old girl has allegedly stabbed a police officer in the arm and chest as he was responding to a disturbance at a shopping centre.
Just before 4.30pm on Tuesday, police received reports a girl had assaulted a security guard and caused damage at the centre on Smith Street in central Darwin.
CCTV operators tracked the girl who was found nearby with two other teens.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.When officers approached, the 14-year-old girl allegedly produced a kitchen knife and struck an officer causing injuries to his upper arm and chest.
A Taser was deployed and the girl was arrested, police said.
The injured officer was assessed by paramedics and taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The two other teens, a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were arrested without incident. Charges have yet to be laid.
Police Commissioner Martin Dole said the attack on the officer was unacceptable.
“Our officers responded to reports of a person armed with a knife in a busy part of the city. One of those officers was injured while protecting the community,” he said.
“Police officers should be able to respond to calls for help without being attacked.
“This was a serious incident, and I’m relieved the officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.”
