Australia Post is facing backlash this morning as reports of delivery failures are growing online.

Australia Post has launched a mass recruitment drive as it looks to sign up 3000 new employees.

The government-run delivery service is gearing up for the busy cyber sales period and the lead-up to Christmas and is offering casual seasonal positions.

Roles are available in all states and territories, with the highest need for employees in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

And, they are not just looking for posties. Forklift operators, van and truck drivers, and freight handlers and parcel sorters are needed to fill roles across the delivery network.

Seasonal casual roles have an adult pay rate starting at $31.85 for processing (mail officer, parcel sorter) roles and up to $35.67 for licenced roles (forklift, van and truck drivers).

Some roles may also attract additional casual loading for overtime, evening, and weekend work.

The roles would be ongoing from September to December giving those who secure a casual position a foot in the door for something more permanent.

Australia Post executive general manager, people and culture, Sue Davies, said seasonal casuals were critical to ensuring deliveries reached customers on time.

“As we approach our busiest time of year, we’re looking to bolster our workforce to ensure we can meet increased demand and maintain the high level of service Australians expect from Australia Post,” she said.

“Last year, we delivered almost 100 million parcels in the lead-up to Christmas, thanks to the help of our seasonal casuals who worked alongside our existing team members.

“We’d love to hear from people who have a valid forklift or truck license, as well as people looking to work in parcel processing, deliveries and freight handling.

“Joining our team not only provides the opportunity to be a part of a supportive and dynamic environment but also allows you to earn extra money and to spread the merry this Christmas.

“Working in a seasonal casual role can also create opportunities to work with Australia Post beyond the end of the year. We have many team members who started as a seasonal casual and are still part of our team many years later.”
