The NSW police officer accused of murdering his ex-boyfriend and new partner is alleged to have sent a decoy text message from one of the men telling his housemates he was moving to Perth.

Police sources told the Daily Telegraph the accused killer police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have sent two lengthy messages from the phone of his ex-boyfriend, TV presenter Jesse Baird, talking of an impending move to Perth and asking former housemates to move his furniture.

The Telegraph reported the messages distracted detectives, leading them to believe Mr Baird was still alive.

In the first message, Mr Baird’s former housemates were told he would collect his furniture and place it into storage because he was moving to Perth on Thursday.

In the second text, he told them to put his items out onto the street.

The Daily Telegraph reported the housemates had evicted the former TV reporter last week due to the state of the Paddington property in Sydney’s east and had told him cleaners were booked to come in on Thursday.

The development comes after Mr Lamarre-Condon attended Bondi Police Station on Friday before being charged with murdering Mr Baird, 26, and his current boyfriend, 29-year-old Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies.

Police allege Mr Lamarre-Condon shot the two men at Mr Baird’s home with his service-issued Glock pistol on Monday.

The bodies of the two men have still not been found.

A member of Mr Baird’s family, his cousin Austin Baird, paid an emotional tribute as the search continued.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Jesse, my first ever best friend, I am beyond devastated.

“I still can’t believe it. Most of my favourite memories in life were me, Luke, Brendan and you riding motorbikes, skiing, boating and camping.”

“You were on in a million, you cared about everyone and left such an impact on every person you met.”
