British woman charged after allegedly attempting to import 4kg of meth into Australia
A British woman has allegedly flown into Australia with enough methamphetamine in her luggage for “40,000 street deals”.
Australian Federal Police on Tuesday said the 34-year-old had been charged after allegedly attempting to import 4kg of meth worth about $4 million into the country.
A drug detection dog reacted to the woman’s luggage after she arrived at Brisbane International Airport from Canada on June 29.

“This amount of methamphetamine could have been sold as a potential 40,000 street deals, with an estimated street value of $4 million,” the AFP said in a statement.
The woman has been charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
“Criminal syndicates are fully aware of the damage their trade does to society but simply don’t care,” AFP Superintendent Sascha Austin said.
“All they care about is an easy payday.
“I’m pleased to say on this occasion however they will get nothing for their drugs and the alleged importer is now being dealt with by the courts.”
The woman has been remanded in custody, with her matter next set for Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 19.
