Bruce Lehrmann calls for NACC boss Paul Brereton to be sacked

Bruce Lehrmann has issued an extraordinary call for the boss of the corruption watchdog to resign or be dismissed by the government.
In a letter to Attorney-General Michelle Rowland, dated Friday, Mr Lehrmann calls for Commissioner Paul Brereton to be stood down, alleging “serious conflicts of interest”.
The letter comes just over a week after Mr Lehrmann launched Federal Court action against the Special Minister of State Don Farrell and NACC Commissioner Paul Brereton over legal costs the former Liberal staffer paid following two raids at his home.

In his letter to Ms Rowland, he said: “I write in the gravest terms concerning the conduct and position of the Commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
“I anticipate that the proceedings before the FCA (Federal Court of Australia) and the fall of the evidence, will show further concerning patterns of overreach, misconduct and serious conflicts.”
He also alleged in his letter that Mr Brereton seems to be “targeting me”.

In his Federal Court filing, Mr Lehrmann is pushing for “substantial legal costs” he says he paid in connection with a NACC investigation into whether he stole sensitive submarine documents from Linda Reynolds’ office.

More to come.
