Charlotte woman dead: Police investigate as woman killed in crash, ‘ejected’ after not wearing a seatbelt

Northern Territory Police are investigating a crash that killed a young woman and left a man injured after stating the woman was not wearing a seat belt.

The incident occurred around 4:30pm on Sunday when authorities received a report of a vehicle crash on Litchfield Park Road, around 100km from Darwin.

Emergency services arrived at the accident location with Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner confirming a critical detail in the investigation: “The female passenger was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.”

The passenger, aged 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver, aged 36, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical attention and testing.

“Major Crash detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will await forensic toxicology results to determine whether the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.” Detective Senior Sergeant Lindner said.
