Christine Dawson: Man charged with murder of Sydney grandmother, 66 following 18-month investigation

A man has been charged with the murder of a 66-year-old woman whose body was found in a Sydney apartment block more than 18 months ago.

A 52-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a Sydney grandmother who was found inside an apartment block in Sydney’s east more than 18 months ago.

Emergency services found Christine Dawson, 66, inside a unit at Astoria Circuit in Maroubra on November 18, 2024.

Shane Tucker, 52, was arrested at a property on Pennant Hills Rd in Pennant Hills about 8.30am on Monday and has since been charged with murder (domestic violence) following a long-running investigation.

He was refused bail and is due to face Parramatta Local Court.

Ms Dawson’s daughter Tamara Dawson told 7News in 2024 that her mother was “pure to her soul. She would give you her last cent.”

“I’m just going to miss her very, very much... things aren’t going to be the same. It’s not going to be the same,” she said.

“I’m sure if someone knows something they know what the right thing to do is.”
