The Christmas weather forecast can make or break your plans and with just a week to go until the big day Aussies have been sweating on what the weather gods have in store.

The good news is the Bureau of Meteorology has just dropped its all-important weather forecast — most Aussies can breathe sighs of relief.

It’s going to be warm and pleasant across most of the nation, with temperatures in the high 20s and early 30s.

Adelaide is expected to cop a scorcher, with the temperature gauge expected to hit 35C.

And, while there’s a chance of showers in Hobart and Darwin elsewhere it will be dry, clearing the way for backyard cricket and lazing by the pool.

Christmas weather forecast for every Australian capital city

Sydney:

Christmas Eve - 25C Sunny. Light winds becoming southeast to southwesterly 15 to 25km/h during the morning.

Christmas Day - 28C Partly cloudy. Light winds becoming easterly 15 to 25km/h during the day.

Melbourne:

Christmas Eve - 22C Cloudy. Medium chance of showers, most likely during the morning. Winds southwesterly 15 to 25km/h turning southerly during the day.

Christmas Day - 28C Partly cloudy. Light winds becoming south to southeasterly 15 to 20km/h during the day.

Brisbane:

Christmas Eve - 32C Sunny. Light winds becoming north to northeasterly 15 to 2km/h during the day.

Christmas Day - 31C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Light winds becoming southeasterly 15 to 25km/h during the morning.

Perth:

Christmas Eve - 31C Sunny. Light winds becoming southwesterly 20 to 30km/h during the morning.

Christmas Day - 25C Cloud increasing.

Adelaide:

Christmas Eve - 28C Mostly sunny. Light winds becoming south to southwesterly 15 to 25km/h during the day.

Christmas Day - 35C Sunny. Winds easterly 15 to 20 km/h tending northwest to northeasterly 15 to 25km/h during the morning.

Hobart:

Christmas Eve - 20C Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers, most likely during the morning. Winds west to southwesterly 20 to 30km/h.

Christmas Day - 23C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Winds westerly 15 to 20km/h shifting southeasterly during the day.

Darwin:

Christmas Eve - 34 Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm. Light winds.

Christmas Day - 34C Possible shower or storm.

Canberra:

Christmas Eve - 28C Sunny. Winds west to southwesterly 15 to 20km/h shifting east to southeasterly later.

Christmas Day - 33C Mostly sunny. Light winds becoming north to northwesterly 15 to 20km/h during the day.
