Cronulla Beach evacuated after shark spotted by Surf Life Saving NSW drone in Sydney
Swimmers have been ordered from the water at one of Sydney’s most popular beaches after a shark was spotted lurking nearby.
One of Sydney’s most popular beaches has been evacuated after a shark was spotted lurking close to shore on Monday morning.
Swimmers were ordered out of the water at Cronulla after a Surf Life Saving NSW drone operator detected the shark about 8.46am.
The sighting prompted authorities to close the beach as a precaution, with beachgoers forced to remain out of the water.

The scare comes just days after the NSW Government announced expanded drone patrols would operate along the State’s coastline throughout spring and summer.
The increased surveillance comes as warmer weather draws growing numbers of swimmers, surfers and other beachgoers back to the water.
