NSW Paramedics treated the man on-site in Sydney’s north, while NSW Fire and Rescue attempted to free the man.

Tragically, he died at the scene.

Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry told the News Corp: “Police are on scene and continuing to investigate all events leading up to and how this matter occurred.”

“Safe Work has been notified.”

Superintendent Dewberry added the oil tank was an “older style oil tanks used to heat homes”.

It is understood that the man in his 60’s had been cutting the legs on the tank, which has then collapsed onto him.

Rescue crews described the metal tank as “long”.

The man is believed to be a contractor.
