Cameron Hughes has been found dead after he was detained in a Bali immigration centre.
A 39-year-old Perth man has been found dead after he was detained in a Bali immigration centre.
According to local media, Cameron Hughes was being held at Ngurah Rai Immigration Office when he was found unresponsive on Friday night.
The 39-year-old, who had lived in Bali for 15 years where he was married with an eight-year-old son, was awaiting deportation over visa issues.

“Cameron was a beautiful person who loved his family deeply and was a devoted father,” his family said in a statement provided to the ABC.
“He was resilient, hardworking and proud of overcoming challenges to build a good life. Taken too soon doesn’t even come close. We are completely broken as a family.
“We will be working closely with consular staff to understand what actually happened, and work with them to understand the full extent of the situation.”
The Bali Times reported Mr Hughes had received emergency medical treatment after officers found him unconscious inside the detention facility, but he died on the way to hospital.
Immigration officials have launched an investigation into the death, co-ordinating with police to examine the scene of the incident.
Preliminary findings by the hospital indicated Mr Hughes may have had a heart attack.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Bali.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.
“Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment.”
