Flinders Highway: Exclusion zone with 2km radius established after fuel tanker rolls on Queensland highway

A fuel tanker has crashed, sparking police to issue an emergency declaration on a major highway.

The truck crashed on the Flinders Highway at Pentland, west of Charters Towers.

Police, Queensland Ambulance Service and fire crews are on the scene, however, no one is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash.

The incident prompted authorities to enforce safety measures under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to what the tanker was carrying.

The declaration was made just before 9am, establishing an exclusion zone that spans two kilometres around the crash site, located near Warrigal Creek.

Police are urging members of the public to avoid the area for their safety.

Motorists and residents within the exclusion zone are advised to stay indoors until further notice, as emergency services work to manage the situation.
