Food recall: Götzinger ham, beef products pulled over Listeria contamination risk

An urgent food recall has been issued for a popular grocery item following contamination concerns.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) confirmed that several Götzinger Smallgoods products are being pulled from shelves after tests revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness.
The affected products include sliced silverside, roast beef and a range of ham varieties commonly sold in retail outlets and butcher shops across New South Wales and Queensland.

While the general population can also become ill consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, these groups are the most vulnerable.
Common symptoms of a listeria infection include fever and chills, as well as flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches, headaches and fatigue. Diarrhoea or an upset stomach can also be experienced.
“Consumers should not eat this product. Consumers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” FSANZ said in a statement.
