Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus: ACCC recalls $6,499 smart bike product that could overheat and ‘catch fire’
The ACCC has issued an urgent recall of a $6,499 luxury indoor smart bike over fears it could catch fire and cause “serious injury from burns and/ or property damage”.
The fitness product, described by enthusiasts as giving the “ultimate indoor riding experience”, has been sold across Australia in stores and online.
The Tacx NEO Bike Plus, sometimes sold as the Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus, was recalled on Wednesday, October 2 over a power issue.

“Consumers should unplug the product from power immediately.
“If you want to continue using the product until an appropriate remedy is available, you should only use the product in standalone mode (unplugged from any power source).”
The bike features a 4.5″ display, a USB charger and built-in interactive fans are automatically controlled by your power or heart rate.
The product has been available for purchase through the Garmin website (garmin.com/en-AU), and either online or in store through Achieva Agents, 99 Bikes, The Odd Spoke, Urban Pedaler, Fast Lane Bike Shop, ABC Bikes, City Bicycle Express, Health Management Group Pty Ltd and Adventure Online t/a Pushys Online
Consumers can exercise their rights to a remedy in accordance with the consumer guarantees which may entitle them to a full refund or a replacement product that is free of defects.
