Beloved pet injured in vicious dog attack in Maddington

A German Shepherd was viciously mauled by two dogs in Perth’s south-east, leaving neighbours shaken and the pet’s owner traumatised.

The horrifying attack unfolded at Peace Park in Maddington around 4pm on Saturday, when two unleashed dogs charged at Yuki — a two-year old German Shepherd who was being walked on a leash.

Graphic footage shows the dogs pinning the German Shepherd to the ground as it yelps in agony, its cries echoing around the neighbourhood while witnesses scream and desperately try to pull the dogs apart.

Once separated, the dogs that attacked Yuki were loaded into a car and driven away, their owners leaving without a word.

Yuki’s owner, Olive Garcia, shared the distressing footage online describing the moment as “heartbreaking”.

“It was heartbreaking to see them in such distress and even more upsetting that the owners of the attacking dogs simply put their dogs in their car and drove away. No apology, no concern, not even a single word to check if our dogs were okay,” Ms Garcia said.

Ms Garcia said Yuki was left “limping and bleeding” and her other dog — a Husky who witnessed the attack — was so stressed “he vomited from the trauma”.

Ms Garcia also urged the dogs’ owners to act more responsibly.

“You should know that leashing your dogs in public spaces is not only responsible but necessary to keep others safe,” she said.

“What if it had been a child or an innocent person instead of our dogs? Peace Park is meant to be a safe place for kids, families, and pets, not a place of fear or danger.”

The incident has been reported to rangers, Yuki’s owners hope action is taken to prevent another attack.
