Girl, 5, rushed to hospital after being hit by ute while running from dog in Western Sydney
A young girl was frantically trying to escape a loose dog when she ran onto a road and was hit by a ute in Western Sydney.
The five-year-old was hit by a red Nissan ute on the Great Western Hwy near Kingswood Railway Station about 4.50pm on Monday.

A witness told The Sydney Morning Herald they heard “a screech of brakes and a scream” after seeing the girl dash out from between two parked cars.
“Suddenly it happened — because of the dog I can say,” another witness told 7NEWS.
The witness said the girl’s father was telling his two children not to run.
The father, who was seen behind her, rushed forward in panic as the incident unfolded, holding his hands to his head and dropping his phone in shock.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the girl for multiple head injuries, before taking her to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.
The ute driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police said the 33-year-old man is unlikely to be charged.
It remains unclear who owns the dog, which was not wearing a tag or collar.
An investigation is underway.
