Guests evacuated as fire breaks out at the Hilton hotel in Surfers Paradise, Queensland
A fire has broken out at the Hilton hotel on the Gold Coast.
Witnesses say they saw a fiery explosion at the top of the hotel on Orchid Ave in Surfers Paradise around 2am on Friday.

Six fire trucks attended the blaze and guests in 186 rooms across 34 floors had to be evacuated.
Crews managed to put out the fire, as well as another fire on a pool deck, within about 30 minutes
Guests allowed back into the building around 5.30am.
It’s unclear what caused the fire however a woman staying at an apartment across the road said she believed the Hilton sign had exploded.
“The H on top of the Hilton building just started to catch on fire and then it all started to explode,” Tammie Klosterman told 7NEWS.
“Parts of it started to fall which caught … other parts of the building on fire.
“It was quite intense.”
Orchid Ave is a bustling tourist strip in Surfers Paradise home to several shops, restaurants and clubs.
