A fatal arson attack at a Hope Island property on Sickle Avenue has left two men fighting for life with critical burns and a woman injured.

One person is dead and three others are in hospital after a terrifying fire broke out overnight.

Emergency services were contacted about 11.45pm about a blaze at an address on Hope Island, Queensland.

Police said the house on Sickle Avenue was “extensively damaged by fire”, which they are treating as suspicious and believe was deliberately lit.

It took five crews to extinguish the blaze.

Five people were inside at the time of the fire.

A 38-year-old man was found dead inside the house.

Two men, aged 44 and 84, were taken to hospital with life-threatening burn injuries.

A 59-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she sustained non-life-threatening injuries while evacuating the house.

Another 38-year-old man evacuated the house safely was was uninjured.

Investigations into the cause of the blaze are now underway and detectives remain on scene.
