On Friday afternoon, Kay Henderson will end her life through voluntary assisted dying (VAD) after a complicated health battle.

The woman from the NSW Central Coast has built a community as she documented her journey reaching her “goodbye day” on TikTok, with fans sharing an outpouring of grief and support for Ms Henderson in her final hours.

Ms Henderson was born with Marfan syndrome.

The genetic disorder causes a issue with connective tissue development.

Since her late teens, Ms Henderson lived her life in extreme pain, something that was not able to be helped by medical treatment.

On Friday, Ms Henderson posted her final video before completing her VAD.

“This is my last goodbye,” Ms Henderson said.

Ms Henderson sat alongside her niece, telling her followers that her family would update them when she had passed.

“She’ll let you all know when I’m gone. Bye,” Ms Henderson said before tearfully blowing a kiss to the camera.

On her final day before completing VAD, Ms Henderson had her hair braided, she went for a swim in the ocean and she spent time with dogs, something she said was “so nice”.

Ms Henderson’s family have travelled to be by her side for her final moments before she ends her life.

Supporters were quick to share there love and well-wishes for Ms Henderson on her final post.

“Can someone let us all know that she went peacefully when the time comes,” on supported wrote.

“Oh Kay! Have a smooth transition! I’m so glad to have found you on here! I’ll miss you, but I’m so happy you’ve been given this choice to do what’s the best thing for you,” wrote another.

“Rest peacefully beautiful angel,” a third wrote.

“l don’t know you, but I’ve been following your journey. May you transition be as bright as the most prettiest field of flowers and may you finally be pain free.”
