Man arrested over alleged attempted abduction of young girl in Katherine, NT
A man has allegedly attempted to abduct a child while she was walking to the toilets at an oval in Katherine in the NT.
The incident happened about 6.30pm on Thursday at an oval on the Stuart Hwy.
Police say the man allegedly grabbed the young girl, whose specific age was not disclosed, by the arm and tried to drag her to another location.

Not long after police arrested a 19-year-old man who remains in custody.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ordelman said described the ordeal as “frightening” for the girl.
“NT Police commend her for running back to known adults and immediately telling them what had happened,” he said.
He said it was believed that some members of the public had footage of the man and urged anyone who does to come forward.
“Detectives are in the initial stages of investigations and we are urging anyone who was in attendance last night, who has information, to make contact with police.”
