A man is fighting for his life after an alleged assault at a motel in Sydney’s northwest.

Emergency services were called to the Windsor Terrace Motel on George Street, Windsor, around 12.40am on Tuesday after reports of an assault in one of the rooms.

Responding officers from the Hawkesbury Police Area Command discovered a 27-year-old man with severe head injuries upon arrival.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A 53-year-old man is currently at Windsor Police Station assisting police with their inquiries.

Authorities have established a crime scene at the motel and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Hawkesbury Police or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 as inquiries continue.
