Man knocked unconscious in park during violent attack in Katherine
Two men have fled the scene of a violent alleged ambush after knocking one man unconscious and attempting to mow down another man with a ute in the Northern Territory town of Katherine on Saturday.
The two victims had just popped into a petrol station on Katherine Terrace, before they walked across the road to Ryan Park about 1.50am.
“A white dual cab Nissan Patrol utility pulled up next to them and the driver and passenger exited the vehicle,” NT Police said.

They went to return to their car, but were stopped by the second victim before “words were exchanged,” police said.
“The driver and passenger got back into the vehicle, conducted an illegal U-turn and began to drive erratically through the park, attempting to run over the second victim.”
The pair did not hit the other man with the ute, but instead left the vehicle again and attacked him with a blunt weapon, then returned to their vehicle.
The two victims raced back to hide in the petrol station, and their assailants returned to circle them in the ute before once again before finally fleeing the scene.
A number of witnesses were seen on CCTV and police are urging them and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
