A man is on the run after a “disgusting” alleged assault in which boiling water was thrown on police officers in the Northern Territory.

The two officers were allegedly attacked at a home in a remote community within the Victoria Daly region.

The officers had been executing a warrant for a domestic violence-related offence, when a 42-year-old man allegedly threw a large cup of boiling water at them before running into a nearby river.

The man remains on the run.

“This is yet another disgusting assault on our frontline members as they go about their duty protecting Territorians,” Commander Kylie Anderson said.

“Luckily, it does not appear as though they have suffered permanent injuries.”

The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local clinic to be treated.

“Investigations are ongoing with an arrest plan in place,” police said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
