A woman has been charged with attempted murder after being accused of exposing two boys to a noxious substance.

The children - aged 12 and 15 - did not require medical treatment and were “safe and well”, police said.

The matter was reported to police after a 70-year-old man who visited the Mitchelton residence detected the noxious substance, police said.

The 47-year-old woman was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

She was discharged and immediately taken into custody on Thursday, police said.

The woman was charged with two counts of attempted murder as a domestic violence offence against a child.

“It will be alleged a 47-year-old Mitchelton woman attempted to murder two boys, aged 12 and 15-years-old, by exposing them to a noxious substance,” police said in a statement.

The woman is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
