Mordialloc Beach brawl: Riot squad called as teens storm Woolworths then fight at pier

Hundreds of teenagers swarmed a Woolworths supermarket near Mordialloc Beach in Melbourne, knocking over shelves and shoplifting before moving to a nearby pier where multiple fights broke out.

Chaos erupted in Melbourne’s south-east after a large group of teenagers stormed a Woolworths before a violent brawl broke out at a nearby beach.

Police were called to Mordialloc Beach about 3pm on Wednesday after the large group rushed into the supermarket, knocking over shelves and allegedly stealing items.

Some of the teenagers were filming inside the Woolworths store.

After causing a commotion inside the store, the group returned to the beach, where a fight broke out near Mordialloc Pier.

Officers from the riot squad and the public order response team were deployed, with the Air Wing monitoring the situation from above.

The crowd reportedly turned on police, hurling bottles and other objects at them.

One teenager was arrested and is being questioned over affray and assaulting police.

“No injuries have been reported and no weapons were sighted,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

Investigations are ongoing.
