A man has been accused of stabbing his ex-wife to death in the backyard of a home in Melbourne’s west.

Jessie James Tumaliuan, 41, was arrested at a house at Retford Close, Werribee just after 9am on Thursday after a woman’s body was found.

Police said the victim, believed to be 42-year-old Czarina Gatbonton Tumaliuan, was found in the backyard with stab wounds.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported a neighbour dropped Tumaliuan’s children at Bethany Catholic Primary School before seeing a man standing outside the home in bloodstained clothing.

The 41-year-old was charged with murder on Thursday evening and faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The prosecutor requested three months to obtain a pathologist’s report to help police determine the cause of death.

Additional time is also needed to take statements from Czarina’s family members, who live overseas.

Jessie will remain in custody until his next court appearance on July 31.

Czarina, who ran her own business called Bellizzima Online Shop, had more than 1000 followers on Facebook.
