Mount Druitt: Teens arrested after Universal Barbershop Westfield shooting, car fire and police pursuit
Two teenage boys have been arrested following a wild night of crime including an alleged public place shooting, a car fire, and police pursuit.
Just after 2am on Thursday, police from the Mount Druitt Police Area Command attempted to stop a vehicle on Willis Street in Rooty Hill. When the vehicle failed to comply, officers initiated a pursuit, ending when a car crashed into a parked vehicle.
The occupants, two 17-year-old boys, were uninjured and arrested at the scene. They were taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, where they are assisting with inquiries.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Moments later, at approximately 2.10am, emergency services were called to Football Drive in Bungarribee, where a car was found ablaze. Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire, and a crime scene was established.
Shortly after, at 2.20am, police were alerted to a public place shooting at a shopping centre on North Parade in Mt Druitt.
Officers arrived to find multiple bullet holes in a business window, prompting an additional crime scene to be established for forensic examination.
“There is a heavy police presence here. A number of evidence markers are on the ground, they are bullet casings, after this shooting that took place outside the Universal Barbershop,” Sunrise reporter Liam Tapper said.
“We’re told the Universal Barbershop was the target in this attack.”
Around 20 bullets were reportedly shot through the Westfield centre shop.
Investigators believe the three incidents - the pursuit, car fire, and shooting - are connected, with inquiries ongoing.
