A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder over the alleged assault of another man, who later died in hospital, at an Adelaide hotel.

South Australia Police said Luke Sweetman, 35, died in hospital on Friday after allegedly being punched at the hotel on Victor Rd in Taperoo on August 10.

The 29-year-old man from Exeter was initially charged with aggravated assault causing harm.

Police said his charge would be upgraded to murder when the accused is expected to front the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Sweetman’s family provided a photo of him with his sister to share publicly through police.

They have asked for privacy following his death.
