Users have been unable to access much of their online banking.

NAB customers have finally regained access to internet and mobile banking services several hours after being locked out.

The problem with mobile banking was fixed about 5pm on Monday, while the issues plaguing internet banking were resolved closer to midnight, NAB said in an updated post to customers on X, formerly Twitter.

The fix came hours after customers first reported issues with both forms of transactions.

“We have resolved all technical issues with Internet banking,” the bank said.

“Our banking services are back online and running normally.

“Again, we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. Thank you for your patience as we investigated.”

User reports about the outage made to Downdetector spiked at close to 1400 about 1.30pm (AEST), with more than 80 per cent relating to online banking issues.

“I just tried logging into both the app and internet banking and (I have) no access to anything. Luckily I have cash,” one customer said.

Some customers who were able to log in claimed there were issues with transaction history, while one claimed their accounts “are empty”.

“It’s working however accounts are empty with 0.00 values. Missing 7 digits. Have tried both mobile and web browser and, yes, I’ve cleared the cache,” one person told NAB on X.

Hundreds of problem reports continued to filter in for a number of hours before tailing off about 4.30pm.

NAB has not revealed what sparked its troubles.

“We’re aware of an issue currently impacting some of our services including internet banking, mobile and desktop,” NAB told 7NEWS.com.au earlier on Monday.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. Our tech team is investigating and working to fix this as soon as possible.

“We are continuing to keep our customers updated via banners in our digital banking channels and across social media.”

NAB customers previously endured a frustrating outage in November that blocked them from accessing their accounts via the app or online.

Some claimed they also had trouble at ATMs but NAB disputed there was any issue with its automated teller machine network.
