Bondi dashcam footage shows man attempting to stop shooters.

New footage has emerged of a couple who died after trying to stop one of the Bondi Beach gunmen before he got to the footbridge to launch the attack on a Jewish event at Archer Park.

Dashcam footage appears to show a man wrestle and disarm terrorist Sajid Akram, 50, by a silver sedan as a woman rushes towards them. His son Naveed, 24, can’t be seen in the vision.

Both men tumble to the ground, with the man in purple seemingly seizing the weapon.

As he rises, he clutches the gun while gesturing at Sajid, keeping distance to stop him from reclaiming it. A woman stands nearby, witnessing the struggle. In the clip’s closing seconds, the man backs away, firearm in hand, facing Sajid to block any advance.

Another clip shows Sajid firing toward the couple’s spot before climbing the footbridge.

It’s understood that the couple didn’t survive the encounter.

According to reports by The Daily Telegraph and Sky News, outlets which first published the video, the car had an ISIS flag draped over the front wind screen.

NSW Police couldn’t provide further details to The Nightly, saying their investigation was still underway and “not all victims have been formally identified”.

The video was circulating on Chinese social media after Jenny, whose dashcam snagged the footage, posted it.

She initially heard three bangs mistaken for fireworks before spotting the source gave her chills: “A car with its doors open, an older man and a middle-aged man were rolling on the ground, fighting,” she wrote.

She glanced left to see a bearded man in black, early 20s, on the bridge mere metres away: “He was holding a long rifle, continuously pulling the trigger.”

Later, news clips showed the purple-top man and his partner huddled on the ground. “The sight truly left me speechless and in tears,” Jenny said.

“The elderly man, instead of running, rushed towards the danger, fought desperately to grab the gun, and grappled with him fiercely. Such a civilian hero shouldn’t be forgotten!”

The massacre claimed at least 15 lives, aged 10 to 87, with over 40 injured, including four children and two police. It marks Australia’s deadliest mass shooting since Port Arthur in 1996 (35 killed by Martin Bryant) and the nation’s worst antisemitic attack.
