A 48-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after an alleged stabbing attack by a woman on a busy street in Sydney’s Inner West.

A 48-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with wounds to his hand following an alleged stabbing attack on King Street in Newtown, Sydney.
The busy shopping strip was shut down by police on Monday morning following reports of an assault by a woman armed with a knife.
Officers from Inner West Police Area command were called to the Dendy Cinema on the corner of King Street and Erskineville Road at 11.40am to respond to a man who had “allegedly been stabbed in the hand by an unknown woman”.

Police conducted a search of the area for the armed attacker, locating the 27-year-old woman who still possessed the knife and had to be tasered in order to be restrained.
“Police directed the woman to drop the knife; however, when she allegedly failed to follow the police direction, a taser was used and she was arrested,” a police spokeswoman said.
“The woman has been taken to Newtown Police Station and inquiries are ongoing.”
A crime scene remains in place while investigations are ongoing, closures of King Street between Wilson Street and Church Street disrupting a number of public transport services.
