Three men are on the run and an innocent driver's being treated for critical injuries tonight after a fiery high-speed crash in Sydney's south-west. One of the two vehicles was a luxury hire car on a test drive that was never returned.

Three men are on the run while a fourth fights for his life following a fiery high-speed crash in Sydney’s southwest.

On Monday night, NSW Police released images of three men they believe can assist with their investigation into a two-vehicle crash on Davies Road in Padstow about 10.40pm on Sunday.

A white Audi was allegedly seen driving at high speed before colliding with a silver Nissan Pulsar, causing the luxury car to burst into flames.

“It looks like the silver Pulsar is turning right, and possibly due to the speed of the white Audi, a collision has occurred in the southbound direction,” Detective Inspector Jason Hogan said.

Police were told the occupants of the Audi - believed to be three men aged in their 20s - had fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Audi was not reported stolen but had recently been taken for a “test drive” and never returned to the business, police say.

The driver of the Nissan, a 38-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

One witness claims he was almost hit by the Audi minutes before the collision.

“Flew past me, in and out of traffic... and then maybe 500m down the road, you see the car in a ball of flames,” Matt Andreasen said.

“What if that was your parent or your brother or your sister? How would you feel if you were in that situation?”

Detective Inspector Hogan urged the wanted men to turn themselves in.

“To leave the scene of any crash is not a good thing, and especially when someone is seriously injured,” he told reporters.

“There’s a duty to all drivers to stop and render assistance as well as provide some details of who they are.

“Drivers need to be accountable for their actions, they need to slow down and they need to take the appropriate rest and drive within the conditions.

“Driving is a privilege, not a right, so drivers should be mindful of other road users.”

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact Bankstown Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers.
